These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Cameron Franke, an individual developer ("we," "us," "our"). By downloading or using Actual News, you agree to these Terms.
These Terms are between you and Cameron Franke only, not with Apple Inc. Apple is not responsible for Actual News or its content.
Actual News is an iOS application that aggregates and summarizes publicly available news content using AI-assisted processing. The app delivers cleaned, de-sensationalized summaries of news stories at three levels of depth.
Content in the app is sourced from third-party publishers and processed by automated systems. We do not employ journalists and do not originate news content. Summaries are generated by AI and may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. The views expressed in source articles are those of the original publishers and do not represent our views.
Actual News is for informational purposes only. Nothing in the app constitutes financial, legal, medical, or professional advice of any kind.
You sign in using Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Apple ID. You may not share your account or allow others to access it.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings within the app. Account deletion removes your data from our systems within 30 days. Subscription cancellation is separate and handled through your Apple ID settings.
14-day free trial, then $5/month or $50/year. All billing is through Apple. Cancel any time in your iPhone settings.
Actual News requires a paid subscription after a 14-day free trial. Subscription options:
Subscription disclosure required by Apple:
Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
Your subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the cost of your chosen plan.
You can manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal at any time by going to your Account Settings in the App Store after purchase.
Any unused portion of a free trial period will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not handle payment card data directly. Refund requests are subject to Apple's standard refund policies and should be directed to Apple.
We reserve the right to change pricing with reasonable advance notice. Price changes will not affect the current billing period.

News summaries are generated by AI systems and sourced from third-party publications. We make no representations about the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or reliability of any content in the app. Content may contain errors.
Inclusion of a news source or story does not constitute endorsement of its content, publisher, or viewpoint. Third-party views are not our views.
Do not rely on Actual News for decisions involving health, finance, legal matters, safety, or anything else where accuracy is critical.
Actual News and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Cameron Franke. The app is licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use only. Nothing in these Terms grants you any rights to the app beyond this license.
News content summarized in the app remains the property of the original publishers. Our summaries constitute transformative processing of publicly available information.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Cameron Franke from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the app, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.
We'd prefer to resolve any dispute informally first. Please contact us at [email protected] and give us 30 days to try to resolve your concern before initiating formal proceedings.
If informal resolution fails, any dispute arising from these Terms shall be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by JAMS under its Streamlined Arbitration Rules. You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration. This clause does not prevent either party from seeking relief in small claims court for disputes within that court's jurisdiction.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the app at any time for violation of these Terms. You may stop using the app at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the app ceases immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including disclaimers, limitations of liability, and dispute resolution) will survive.
You acknowledge that Apple Inc. and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and that Apple has the right to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary. This agreement is between you and Cameron Franke only — Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the app.
In the event of any conflict between these Terms and the App Store Terms of Service, the App Store Terms shall prevail.
We, not Apple, are solely responsible for providing maintenance and support for Actual News. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance or support services. For support, contact [email protected].
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notice at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
